A True Story About 3 Rings That Could Change How You See Talent

A friend recently shared that she had just sold three rings passed down from her grandmother.   Ring #1 A plain, simple ring. The design was super common, not shiny anymore, and looked like the kind you can easily find on any marketplace. She thought this one would be worth the least.   Ring #2 Had a medium diamond, but the setting was dull and didn’t look luxurious.   Ring #3 Big, flashy, and full of sparkling diamonds. The most stunning at first glance. Naturally, she assumed Ring #3 would be the most valuable.   But when she brought them to a gold shop… surprise! Guess… which one was the most valuable?   Turns out, it was Ring #1! The one she thought was the cheapest actually had the highest gold content. Solid gold! Ring #2? The diamond was real, but the base wasn’t gold. The shop suggested removing the diamond and putting it on a real gold ring. And Ring #3? Completely fake. Everything, even the diamonds.   This got me thinking… Hiring talent is a lot like this. Some candidates may look “plain” on the surface, no flashy titles or big-name companies, but they’re solid gold underneath, like Ring #1.   Some have potential but need the right environment to shine, like Ring #2.   And some? Well, they might look impressive at first, but once you dig deeper… not much there.   Now, ask yourself.. when you’re reviewing resumes, are you valuing the sparkle… or the substance? Hope you find real gold 🙂
